Composting on the Farm
A steaming dung hill on a frosty morning.
We compost a lot on the farm, we reuse and spread it back onto the land to increase the organic matter in the soil.

Lovely Hereford Cross Heifers
3 of our latest new arrivals to the farm for our calf to beef operation.

Jersey Winter Grazing
We aim for an extended grazing season on the farm.
These are our dry jersey cows being strip grazed on some banked grazing that we have built up since late Summer.

Spreading Lime
We got time to spread a ton and a half of lime to the acre on the farm this week.
Lime is used to bring up the Ph of the soil and to give the microbes and fungi the best chance to absorb the nutrients from the organic matter in the soil and boost grass growth.

Turkey Processing in Full Swing
This is our busiest time of the year on the farm as we prepare for the Christmas rush.

Winter Feeding in Full Swing
Winter feeding in full swing as we feed silage that we harvest during the Summer months to our beef cattle.

English Pastoral – An Inheritance
What I’m reading at the moment, some people might find it of interest.
This is a fantastic and timely book throwing a window on how life changed on English farms. From small family farms to large-scale farming and one man’s journey to revert back to a small family farm on his own land.
Great read!
